Pre and Post Care for Laser

Please inform your laser technician if you have any health issues or any medication certain conditions may require a doctor’s note to be eligible for laser treatment.

Pre-procedure Laser Treatment

Avoid the following 4 weeks prior to treatment.

Sun exposure/tanning beds

Waxing and tweezing

Sunless tanners or spray tans

Discontinue 1 week prior to treatment

Oral antibiotics

Tetin A and Renova

Topical acne medications

If you have any history of cold sores or have active cold sores we cannot perform the laser treatment. Your laser technician will discuss treatment options with you.

No hair removal creams and bleach creams on the area to be treated during the entire course of treatment.

Treatment day what to expect: Smooth shaves no stubble hair on the area to be treated the evening before the treatment day. Shave at least 24 hours before treatment. We will not be offering any shaving treatment at the STYLE LOUNGE.

A Slight zapping can be felt.

No lipstick, no makeup, no creams, no SPF when you come for treatment. If you have SPF when you come, please wash your face thoroughly. Don’t use any deodorants, lotions, or creams on areas that need to be treated.

No numbing creams should be applied.

Post-procedure Laser Treatment

Avoid sun exposure to reduce the change of skin color changes. If sun avoidance is impossible, use a SPF30+ at all times throughout the treatment. Always bring sunscreen to all appointments to be applied right after treatment.

Clipping or shaving of the treatment area is permitted. Don’t use any other hair removal methods on treated areas during the course of treatment.

Avoid aggressive scrubbing, rubbing, or scratching of treated areas.

Don’t pick or remove scabs or crusting.

If blistering occurs, all to heal it completely. If healing is delayed apply antibiotic ointment to the treated twice daily until healed and call your laser technician to inform them of your issue.

Handle the treated area gently. No shaving for 24 hours. Also avoid hot water, swimming, saunas, gym, and no strenuous activities for 24 hours.

Apply Aloe Vera or hydrocortisone cream to treatment areas to ease temporary discomfort. Ice packs can be used if swelling occurs.

Makeup may be applied immediately after facial treatment unless blistering or crusts develop. Since the skin is sensitive during the period take special care while removing makeup to avoid damaging the skin and risking infection.

If blisters develop, contact your physician.

Risks

Mild redness can be expected but it’s not permanent. It subsides in a couple of hours or 24 hours.

Number of treatments and frequency,

It usually takes 5 to 8 consecutive treatments to see results and in some clients, it can be longer depending on hair type and hormones, and PCOS.

If there are any tattoos or permanent makeup in the area, there is a possibility of blistering of lightening of the tattoo/makeup. Inform your laser technician of all tattoos and permanent makeup on your all laser appointments.

Frequency of treatments is as follow:

Face=    4 to 5 weeks apart

Body=   6 weeks apart

It is recommended that you go on a treatment programmed which means 3 to 4 sessions per year. This will vary from person to person.

Laser treatment cannot be performed on people:

If someone is pregnant or breastfeeding, laser treatment cannot performed.

If someone is currently taking Accutane or took Accutane in the past 6 months they need to wait at least for a year to receive treatment after they stopped taking Accutane. A doctor’s note will be required that it’s safe to perform the treatment.

Patients who have open wounds, malignant skin tumors, or suffering from diseases that make them sensitive to lights, patients with cancer and epilepsy cannot receive any treatment.

If you have metal in any area you cannot receive treatment in that particular area or if having any braces please let your technician know.
